In Search Of The Displaced Persons
Andy Evans & Vesna Kovac

A Time for Final Healing

For me the mystery of Bosnia unfolded itself as I had always expected it to be so when I would spend the idle days of summer in the man’s presence. Granddad had retained this magical land’ essence within his soul and it was this that would draw me, years after his death to continue in the desperate and never ending search to uncover what may simply have not been there to see.
Like Maksim I too am now beginning to feel the peace knowing that what I so desperately searched as finally been found. The quest for what I strived is now complete as with the book that was always to be written, regardless of whom was to pen the words. I have seen, within my own vision what he would have seen throughout his life there, the rolling hills, the scattered woodland and the love of his people.

With Vesna it is from the love of her mom, Petra that has compelled her to put pen to paper. The woman who had survived the carnage of 1941, and had strived then, to protect and cherish her own loved ones until her sad and untimely death in 2007. The woman, who had not only been exposed and lived through the horrors of war, not once, but twice in her lifetime.
Petra had been the rock that that kept the family functioning in those harsh and bitter years of the civil war and it is through her own existence and memory, equally of that of Maksim’s, that made this book possible to record.
